What our members think of us...
our members say it best

You can tell people what your gym offers, explain the sessions and talk about the equipment, but often the best way to understand a gym is to listen to the people who train there. When our members talk about CrossFit Jorvik, they rarely focus only on how much weight they have lifted or how fast they completed a workout. They talk about how the gym makes them feel, the support they receive and the difference training has made outside the gym.
“I didn’t think I would fit in”
Many people arrive feeling nervous. They might not feel fit enough, worry that everyone else will know what they are doing or assume they need to get in shape before joining. One of the most common things we hear is how quickly those worries disappear.
Our members come from different backgrounds, have different abilities and are working towards different goals. Every movement can be adjusted, and nobody is expected to walk through the door already knowing what to do. You do not need to be the strongest or the fittest person in the room. You simply need to start where you are.
“The coaches actually know me”
Our members often tell us that the coaching feels personal, even when they are training in a group. Our coaches know when someone needs to be challenged, when a movement needs adapting and when life outside the gym means simply turning up is a win. We want members to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. Good coaching is not just about shouting encouragement during a workout. It is about helping people train safely, make steady progress and build confidence over time.
“It feels like a community”
For many members, the people are what make the gym special. It is having someone notice when you have not been in for a while. It is celebrating somebody else’s progress, even when you are working towards completely different goals. It is sharing a laugh before the session and encouraging each other when the workout gets tough. You can train alongside people of different ages and abilities and still feel like you are part of the same team.
“I’m stronger in everyday life”
Progress is not always found on the scales or written on a whiteboard. Our members tell us about carrying shopping more easily, feeling more confident running around with their children, getting back to hobbies they enjoy and having more energy throughout the day. Some people join because they want to lose weight or improve their fitness. Over time, they often discover that feeling stronger, moving better and trusting their body matters just as much.
“I’ve finally found something I can stick to”
Consistency is rarely about being perfectly motivated. It becomes easier when your sessions are planned, your coaches support you and you enjoy the people you train with. Our members often tell us that this is the first time exercise has felt like a normal part of their week rather than something they repeatedly start and stop. There will still be busy weeks, holidays, illnesses and times when motivation drops. The goal is not perfection. It is having somewhere you feel comfortable returning to.
More Than Just a Workout
We are proud of the equipment, the programming and the variety within our sessions, but the most important part of CrossFit Jorvik will always be the people. It is a place where you can be coached, supported and challenged without feeling judged. A place where progress is celebrated in all its forms. A place where you can arrive exactly as you are and gradually become stronger, fitter and more confident.
That is what our members tell us makes CrossFit Jorvik different.
